Ocular Herpes - Herpes simplex, type I. This is the same virus which
causes cold sores and it can infect the eyes also. It occurs on the
cornea, usually only on one eye, and is also known as Herpes Keratitis.
It can affect only the surface, or deeper layers, and can heal well, or
can cause scarring, loss of vision and even blindness. Occasionally it
develops inside the eye and is then known as Herpes Retinitis or Herpes
